A new K of C video series launches this week, one that seeks to illuminate the truth and beauty of the Church’s teachings on marriage and family and inspire Catholics to live them in the modern world.

Into the Breach: The Mission of the Family will be released Sept. 29, the feast of Sts. Michael, Gabriel and Raphael. It follows the model of Into the Breach, the Order’s video series about the spiritual calling of men based on a 2015 apostolic exhortation by Bishop Thomas Olmsted of Phoenix. Released in 2020, those videos have been viewed nearly 1.5 million times.

Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly announced the new marriage and family video series in his Aug. 1 annual report to the 141st Supreme Convention, noting that they feature “powerful testimonies and practical advice for living the faith as a family.”

“Vanessa and I have three young daughters. Nothing matters more to us than raising them with a love for the faith,” the supreme knight said. “The same is true for so many Catholic families. It’s an urgent need in the Church.”

He added, “The Knights of Columbus has a duty to help parents grow in their faith and pass it on to their children. Our new video series will help.”

Each episode of The Mission of the Family looks at a different aspect of Catholic family life, from the nature of marriage itself to the challenges of forming children in a post-Christian culture. Insights from experts frame personal stories from Catholic couples who share how they are living out their vocations as spouses and parents.

Among the theologians and Catholic speakers featured are Tim Gray, president of the Augustine Institute; Nicholas Healy and Jeanne Schindler of the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family in Washington, D.C.; psychologist and television host Ray Guarendi; author Sarah Swafford; and Sister Maris Stella of the Sisters of Life.

All five 12-minute episodes of Into the Breach: The Mission of the Family can be viewed at kofc.org/missionofthefamily starting Friday, Sept. 29; the trailer can be viewed here.
